A 43-year-old man named Kareem has died after jumping into a well in the Edun area of Ilorin, Kwara State. The incident happened shortly after he returned from Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Friday.
Officials say Kareem was under the influence of a hard drug known as Colorado (a type of synthetic cannabinoid) when he took the fatal leap.
The Kwara State Fire Service recovered his lifeless body from the well on Saturday morning.
In a statement, the Fire Service’s Head of Media and Publicity, Hassan Adekunle, said, “The distress call was received at about 10:29 a.m. reporting that a man had fallen into a well. Our firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and successfully recovered the body.”
He confirmed that the body was later handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos from the C Division Police Station in Ilorin.
