The ongoing disagreement between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has taken a new turn as her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, publicly called on Akpabio to respect his wife.
Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, issued a statement on Saturday in Warri, Delta State, where he expressed concern over how the matter was being handled. He said he had initially chosen to remain silent but felt compelled to speak because of recent developments.
“I would never trade her for anything, as she is the greatest joy of my life,” Uduaghan stated, reaffirming his love and support for his wife.
He emphasized that Natasha was elected because of the trust and confidence her people have in her and that she remains committed to serving both her constituents and the nation.
“She is committed to delivering quality representation to her district and the nation at large,” he said.

A Personal Plea for Respect
Uduaghan described his wife as a devoted and truthful woman, even in the face of challenges. He revealed that she had confided in him about her interactions with Akpabio, whom he regarded as a family friend.
“In response, I approached the matter with utmost maturity and responsibility. As a traditional leader who upholds family values and respects constituted authority, I sought to foster peace and harmony,” he explained.
He disclosed that he personally met with Akpabio to discuss the situation and urged him to treat Natasha with the respect and courtesy she deserves while also honoring their long-standing friendship.
“Both parties agreed to resolve the issue amicably,” he stated.
Concerns Over Continued Harassment
Despite their agreement, Uduaghan expressed disappointment that his wife still faced harassment from Akpabio.
“However, despite this agreement, my wife continues to express concerns about the harassment she has endured from the Senate President,” he said.
Uduaghan reaffirmed his confidence in his wife’s loyalty and their marriage, urging the Senate and Akpabio to handle the matter with fairness and respect.
“I urge the Senate and the Senate President to treat Natasha with the dignity she deserves while the relevant authorities and the court address the underlying issues,” he concluded.
