A former senator from Kaduna State, Danjuma La’ah, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after serving in the National Assembly for eight years.
La’ah, who represented Kaduna South Senatorial Zone for two terms, submitted his resignation letter to the PDP chairman in Mallagum Ward, Kaura Local Government Area, on February 4, 2025. His decision has sparked discussions about his next political move, as he has not yet announced whether he will join another party.
‘My Resignation Is Personal’ – La’ah
In his resignation letter, La’ah made it clear that his decision to leave the PDP was personal and had nothing to do with his relationship with the people of his senatorial district.
“I humbly write to notify the leadership and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mallagum Ward, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, of my resignation from the party with effect from February 4, 2025,” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to his supporters for their cooperation throughout his tenure as a senator.
“I thank each of you for your cooperation and support, particularly during my eight-year tenure as Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly in Abuja,” he added.

Political Uncertainty Surrounding La’ah’s Next Move
La’ah’s resignation has fueled speculation about his next political step. While he has not publicly declared his intentions, some political analysts believe he may be considering joining another party ahead of future elections.
A political observer in Kaduna, Ibrahim Yusuf, said La’ah’s departure from the PDP could signal a shift in the state’s political landscape.
“Senator La’ah has been a strong figure in the PDP for years. His resignation is significant, and it raises questions about whether he will remain in politics under a different platform or retire completely,” Yusuf said.
Another resident of Kaura Local Government, Grace Dangana, expressed surprise at the news, saying, “I didn’t expect him to leave the PDP. He has been a loyal member for so long. If he joins another party, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.”
PDP Yet to React
The Kaduna State chapter of the PDP has remained silent on La’ah’s resignation. Efforts to get a response from the party’s Publicity Secretary, Maria Dogo, were unsuccessful, as she did not answer phone calls or respond to WhatsApp messages at the time of filing this report.
As La’ah exits the PDP, political watchers will be keeping a close eye on his next move and its potential impact on Kaduna politics.
