Galatasaray and Nigeria International, Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles striker and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen is at the center of a controversy in Turkey after being accused of assaulting a journalist. Reports from Turkish media outlet Posta allege that the football star punched a journalist outside an entertainment venue in Turkey.

The incident reportedly occurred when Osimhen, who was accompanied by friends, became upset at being photographed. Journalist Tolga Bozduman, who claims to be the victim, provided his account of the altercation.

“I was filming Osimhen as he exited, accompanied by three colleagues,” Bozduman explained. “When the camera flashes stopped, he became furious. He rushed towards me, shouting, and attempted to grab my camera. When I refused to let go, he punched me. It still hurts. Then he started swearing and said, ‘Destroy the photos, I’ll give you money.’ I refused, and he threatened me, saying, ‘I’ll destroy you.’”

The alleged assault has sparked widespread attention in Turkey, especially given Osimhen’s high-profile role with Galatasaray. So far, neither the club nor Osimhen has issued an official statement addressing the claims.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray earlier this season, has been in outstanding form, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists in all competitions. Despite his success on the pitch, the controversy could overshadow his achievements.

The incident has raised questions about player conduct and privacy in the public eye. Fans and analysts are awaiting responses from both the player and his club, as the accusations could have significant implications for Osimhen’s reputation and career.
