The Kano State Police Command has issued a public warning about a potential terrorist threat in the state. According to intelligence reports, suspected terrorists are planning attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations across Kano.
In a statement released on Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, advised residents to stay vigilant and avoid crowded areas as a precautionary measure.
“The Kano State Police Command, in liaison with other security agencies, has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” Haruna stated.
He urged residents to exercise caution, saying, “We hereby urge residents to exercise caution and avoid crowded places and environments until further notice as a preventive measure to enable security operatives to identify and dislodge possible attackers.”

Heightened Security Measures
To address the threat, the police have implemented various security measures. A specialized team from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units has been deployed to strategic areas within the state. The team is on high alert and ready to respond to any emergency.
The command has also provided two dedicated hotlines—08169884988 and 07067157218—for residents to report suspicious persons, objects, or activities.
“We have taken necessary security steps to ensure the safety of lives and properties in Kano State,” Haruna assured.
Call for Public Vigilance
SP Haruna emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security, urging residents to report emergencies or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the designated phone numbers.
“We appreciate the support and cooperation of the good people of Kano State and urge everyone to remain vigilant. Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in ensuring public safety,” he added.
The police reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
