The family of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, remains embroiled in a heated dispute over the paternity of his son, Liam. The conflict between Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi, and his father, Joseph Aloba, revolves around delays in conducting a DNA test ordered by a Lagos court.
Omowunmi has accused her late husband’s father of stalling the DNA test process by rejecting her proposed medical facilities. Her legal team, Salawu Akingbolu Chambers, outlined their grievances in a letter dated January 9, 2025.
“We suggested Lagoon Hospitals for the DNA test, but Mr. Aloba opposed it. He proposed UCH Ibadan, which we objected to. To resolve the impasse, we offered alternative facilities like Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospital, but he failed to respond,” Omowunmi’s lawyers stated.
The DNA test dispute follows a directive from the Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, which urged both parties to resolve the matter amicably and choose a mutually agreed facility for the test under supervision.
Omowunmi expressed frustration, stating that the delays had affected her emotionally and tarnished her reputation. “Instead of responding to our letter, Mr. Aloba’s legal counsel, Taiwo Odumosu, falsely accused us on social media of being unwilling to conduct the test. These allegations are untrue, and we demand an apology,” the letter from her lawyers read.
She also condemned Joseph Aloba’s remarks on social media, alleging that he had defamed her son by calling him a “bastard.” “This misrepresentation must stop. We shall inform the court of our position on this matter,” Omowunmi’s legal team warned.

In a letter dated January 11, 2025, Aloba’s former legal team, Hillceetee Partners, denied the allegations. Emmanuel Oroko, who signed the letter, clarified that their comments on social media had been misinterpreted.
“Mr. Odumosu never implied that your client was unwilling to conduct the DNA test. He only stated that the hospitals had not confirmed their readiness to proceed with the test,” the letter read.
The legal team also emphasized their respect for Omowunmi and her legal representatives. “Mr. Odumosu holds your client and your office in high regard and would not intentionally make any derogatory comments,” they added.
Despite their defense, Hillceetee Partners announced their withdrawal from representing Aloba in the ongoing case, leaving questions about his next legal steps.
Omowunmi has threatened to proceed independently with the DNA test if the matter remains unresolved. “This delay is unfair and unnecessary. I am ready to take action to protect my son and clear his name,” she asserted.
The court is expected to address the lingering dispute in the coming weeks as both parties await a resolution to this emotional and contentious issue.
