A courageous police officer from the Kebbi State Command has rejected a N1.6 million bribe offered to compromise an ongoing banditry investigation. The incident underscores the integrity of law enforcement officers battling crime in the region.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, revealed the details during a briefing. He explained that Umar Garba from Dangandu village and his accomplice, Abubakar Alhaji from Maimaichi village, conspired with Usman Muhammed of Bakaramba village to offer the bribe to an officer in the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
“The suspects attempted to subvert an investigation into alleged banditry in the northern part of the state by offering N1.6 million,” Sani disclosed.
The officer involved in the case rejected the bribe and promptly reported the incident, leading to the arrest of the culprits. “Their plan was foiled thanks to the professionalism and integrity of our officers,” Sani added.
