Abdulhakeem Alawuje, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership will be so impactful that Nigerians will ask him to extend his tenure beyond 2027. Alawuje expressed this confidence during a statement to journalists, urging Nigerians to remain patient as the country navigates its current challenges.
Alawuje acknowledged the economic hardships Nigerians are facing but reassured the public that these difficulties are temporary. “The current hardships will soon give way to better times,” he said, adding that Tinubu’s administration is implementing policies that will bring about significant positive changes.
He highlighted that his belief in Tinubu’s administration is rooted in optimism and personal faith in the president’s ability to deliver results. “This prediction is based on the assumption that the president’s policies will yield tangible results, earning him widespread support and admiration,” he said.
Challenges and Reforms
While praising Tinubu’s efforts in his first year in office, Alawuje acknowledged that the administration has faced criticism for issues such as insecurity, inflation, and poverty. However, he lauded key reforms like the removal of the gasoline subsidy, the floating of the naira, and investments in agriculture, manufacturing, and technology as “steps in the right direction.”
“Despite these challenges, it’s clear that President Tinubu is committed to driving sustainable development and improving the lives of Nigerians,” Alawuje stated. He called on citizens to hold their leaders accountable while avoiding manipulation by politicians with ulterior motives. “The masses must remain vigilant,” he urged.

Unity for Progress
Alawuje emphasized the need for unity among Nigerians, regardless of regional or ethnic affiliations, to achieve collective progress. “Nigerians should support the president, regardless of regional or ethnic affiliations, and prioritize the country’s progress over personal or regional interests,” he said.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s political history, Alawuje reminded citizens of the APC’s formation in 2013 through the merger of several opposition parties, which led to a historic victory in the 2015 presidential election. However, he noted that regional sentiments and divisions have hindered the country’s progress.
“To move forward, Nigerians must come together, putting aside their differences and learning from past mistakes,” he said. “As emphasized in the APC’s vision for a new Nigeria, the country can and must do better.”
Tinubu’s Leadership and Vision
Alawuje praised Tinubu’s leadership for its focus on economic reforms, infrastructure development, and social welfare programs. He described the president as a leader with a clear commitment to rescuing Nigeria from its challenges. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government has made significant progress in its first year, despite facing notable challenges,” he stated.
However, he admitted that the government still has a long way to go in addressing critical issues. “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently warned that Nigeria is moving towards a total collapse if leaders and citizens don’t change their ways,” Alawuje noted.
Optimism for the Future
Despite the challenges, Alawuje remained optimistic about Tinubu’s ability to lead Nigeria to greater heights. He dismissed those attempting to discredit the president, stating, “Those trying to discredit Tinubu will fail, as the president has already demonstrated his capacity to lead Nigeria to the promised land.”
“I am optimistic about President Tinubu’s ability to drive positive change and progress in Nigeria, and the struggle will continue until success is achieved,” he added.
