Speaking after the meeting, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, confirmed the choice.
“We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland,” he said.
He added that the nomination will be sent to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who will fix a date to officially present the staff of office to the new monarch.
“The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible. The governor may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week from now,” Ajibola explained.
The late Oba Olakulehin passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025. His burial is expected to take place later this week.
If approved, Oba Rashidi Ladoja will become the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
