Popular Nigerian singer 9ice has revealed that he once suffered a spiritual attack that caused him to vomit blood for six months. He shared this during a recent interview on The Nancy Isime Show.
9ice, whose real name is Alexander Abolore Adegbola Akande, said the incident happened around 2009 to 2010. According to him, it wasn’t a medical issue, but a spiritual problem that needed a traditional solution.
“When I was vomiting blood for about six months in my own house, I had to leave. It wasn’t a medical condition,” he said.
The singer explained that it was only after meeting an Ifa priest that he began to recover. This experience, he said, led him to fully embrace African traditional religion.
“I’m not a Christian or a Muslim. I’m a Babalawo. I’m an African. I’m a traditionalist,” he told Isime.

9ice also expressed regret for not embracing Ifa spirituality earlier in life. He encouraged others to appreciate African culture and traditional beliefs.
“I just wished that I had known Ifa at the beginning,” he said, adding, “Fela [Kuti] used to go to Ogun and people mocked him, but now I understand.”
He said the experience made him realize the power of African spirituality and how important it is to protect oneself from unseen battles.
When asked if he had faced other spiritual battles in the music industry, 9ice replied, “Several times.”
His story has sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians reacting to his openness about traditional beliefs and spiritual struggles.
