The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will announce its new National Chairman on Thursday, July 25, during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
The new chairman will replace Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who recently resigned due to health issues.
According to The Nation, several meetings have taken place ahead of the NEC gathering, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the APC National Secretariat, also known as the Muhammadu Buhari House.
A member of the National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke anonymously, said the party has been working to ensure everything goes smoothly.
“We are prepared for the NEC meeting. Letters have been sent out to all the committee members, and the NWC has been meeting with other organs of the party in order to have a hitch-free meeting,” the source said.

The NWC, the highest administrative body of the APC, held a closed-door meeting on Monday to prepare the NEC agenda. The key item on the agenda is the appointment of a substantive National Chairman.
Meetings have also been held with APC governors and state party chairmen to agree on the timetable for the party’s upcoming congresses, which will lead to the next National Convention.
Top party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, all APC governors, and other NEC members are expected to attend.
Although the full agenda has not been made public, insiders confirmed the focus will be on naming a new National Chairman and discussing preparations for the congresses.
“Mr. President and other leaders of the party have been invited, and the meeting will surely produce a substantive National Chairman,” the source added.
At the time of this report, a large tent was being set up at the venue to host the high-level meeting.
