The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
NECO announced the release on Wednesday, saying 179,201 candidates sat for the exam in 12 subjects. The exam started on May 12 and ended on May 23, 2025.
In a statement, Mr. Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, said the results were released after the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Dr. (Mrs) Folake David, who chaired the committee and is the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, praised the process.
“I am satisfied with the efforts that led to the successful release of the results,” she said.
The meeting also had in attendance some secondary school principals from across Nigeria and top NECO officials.
NECO also announced that a re-sit exam will be held for candidates who failed English Studies and Mathematics. The re-sit is scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025.
