Nigerian singer Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Prime Boy, says he was wrongly accused of being involved in the death of his childhood friend and fellow singer, Ilerioluwa Mohbad Aloba.
In a new interview posted on YouTube, Prime Boy told activist Martin Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), that he never fought or harmed Mohbad during the late singer’s last public appearance on 10 September 2023.
“The claim that we fought or that I hit him is false. I never touched Mohbad at that event. It’s not true… I didn’t stab him. All of that is pure fabrication,” Prime Boy said.
Mohbad died two days later, on 12 September 2023, at the age of 27. His sudden death led to public outrage and police investigations.
Police Declared Him Wanted
In October 2023, the Lagos State Police Command declared Prime Boy wanted in connection with the singer’s death. They placed a ₦1 million bounty on him and later arrested him when he went to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lagos.
He was later released on bail and cleared of any wrongdoing in February 2024. However, Mohbad’s father challenged the court’s ruling. That case was struck out by a Lagos High Court on 2 July 2025.

What Happened That Night
Prime Boy explained that he and Mohbad travelled together to the D’General Bitters Show in Ikorodu, along with other celebrities like Zlatan, Seun Kuti, and Nasboi. According to him, Mohbad personally invited him and asked him to sit next to him in the car.
Prime Boy said there was tension in the car as Mohbad argued with his wife, Wunmi. He said he tried to calm things down, but Mohbad became upset and asked him to leave the car
“I apologised and begged him not to be upset, saying I was only trying to look out for him and his wife. But he said I couldn’t tell him how to live his life,” he said.
After leaving the car, Prime Boy said he went to meet nightlife promoter Cubana Chief Priest, who organised the show.
“I told Cubana Chief Priest I didn’t know what was wrong with Mohbad… He was fighting with his wife, and I tried to separate them, but he chased me out,” he explained.
He said he waited for about 30 minutes but didn’t see Mohbad again. He later found out that everyone had left the event, and he was left alone with the crowd.
Police Damaged My Image
Prime Boy said the police never contacted him before declaring him wanted and that his arrest damaged his image and career.
“I don’t know why the police locked me up. They didn’t invite me or call me. They just threw me in a cell. Even in the cell, police told me I knew nothing about the case. Mohbad’s death broke me — I won’t lie,” he said.
He added that the police had access to all his personal details — including his home address and physical features — but never reached out privately before going public.
“Instead of sending me a letter, they declared me wanted and published all my personal information. That hurt me deeply,” Prime Boy said.
He said he and Mohbad never saw each other again after the event, and he only learned of his death two days later.
