Fast-rising Nigerian musician, Micho Tello, has revealed that Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Davido inspired him to take music seriously and pursue it as a career.
Micho Tello, whose real name is Harry Uduak Michael Omoh, said he began writing songs at the age of 11 but didn’t fully see a future in music until the influence of the two global superstars pushed him forward.
“I started songwriting at 11 but was still trying to develop my pen game. By 2016, I recorded my first trap/rap song titled 7 Years, inspired by Nasty C. It was well received in my neighborhood, and from then, I knew this was my path,” he said.

Born in Akwa Ibom State and raised in Warri, Delta State, Micho Tello—also known as “Tha Illest”—grew up listening to international rap stars like 50 Cent and DMX, as well as Nigeria’s MI Abaga. These influences helped him develop his unique style, blending Afropop with conscious hip-hop.
One key moment in his journey came when he met veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem. According to him, Eedris advised him to speak more about the struggles Nigerians face. That advice led to his song E De Pain Me, which went on to win a music competition and earned him a feature in The Big Wave Magazine (Ghana) during 2019/2020.
Looking ahead, Micho Tello is ready to release two new singles.
“The first, Why, is an Afropop track with no features. I wanted to show my range—I could be water; I could be fire. The second, Acrimony, is a conscious hip-hop song. It’s deeply personal and raw,” he explained.
