At least 15 people have been k!lled in new attacks by gunmen in Plateau State. The attacks happened Thursday night in two communities — Manja in Mangu Local Government Area and Tangur in Bokkos Local Government Area.
Residents said the gunmen came at different times and started shooting randomly. In Tangur, the attack happened around 9pm when many people were getting ready to sleep, while the attack in Manja occurred earlier in the evening.
“They broke into people’s homes and just started shooting,” a resident told our reporter.
Shohotden Mathias Ibrahim, the Director of Culture for the Mwaghavul Development Association and Director of the IDP (Pilot Science) Camp in Mangu, confirmed the deaths in the Mangu attack.
“Seven people were killed here in Mangu. The community is now living in fear,” he said.

In Bokkos, eight people were reported dead after the attack in Tangur community. However, local leaders and residents have not yet responded to messages seeking more details.
The police spokesperson in Plateau State, Alfred Alabo, has not responded to phone calls or messages as of Friday morning.
These fresh attacks come just days after the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, blamed some residents in another part of the state for helping attackers by giving them food and hiding places. President Bola Tinubu had also visited the state recently and directed security agencies to take action to end the killings.
Residents are now calling for urgent help and better protection from the government to stop the rising violence in Plateau.
