Police in Sokoto have arrested a woman, Fauziya Rabo, for allegedly beating her domestic assistant, Bashariyya Usman.
The police spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, said in a statement on Wednesday that the arrest followed an official complaint.
“An official petition prompted immediate action, leading to the arrest of the suspect who is now in custody,” he said.

The case has caused serious concern among members of the public. Many people are calling for justice for the victim. The police have promised to carry out a full and fair investigation.
DSP Rufai said, “The Sokoto State Police Command strongly condemns any form of domestic abuse or violence. Justice will be pursued in accordance with the law, and all parties involved will be treated fairly, without bias or prejudice.”
He also asked people to stop spreading unconfirmed stories about the case. He promised that the police will be open about their findings.
The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, Ahmed Musa, also spoke about the case. He said the command is committed to protecting the rights and dignity of everyone in the state.
The investigation is still ongoing. The police said they will share more information with the public as the case continues.
