Dubai is adding another world record to its already impressive list – the world’s highest metro station, set to be part of the upcoming Blue Line.
The station, which will stand at a remarkable height of 74 meters (242 feet), will be a key feature of Dubai’s expanding metro network, designed to enhance the city’s infrastructure.
His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, known for his visionary leadership in the development of the city’s Metro system, laid the foundation stone for the first station of the Blue Line, named Emaar Properties Station. The station is expected to open on September 9, 2029, continuing the Dubai tradition of significant milestones on the iconic number nine.
The station’s design is futuristic and ambitious, reflecting Dubai’s vision of being a “gateway to the future.”

According to the Dubai Metro spokesperson, the design “incorporates modern architecture while staying true to Dubai’s heritage.”
The station will have three levels and feature a striking structure with towering walls that appear to rise from the ground. The design also includes large glass panels on the ceiling to allow natural light to fill the platform and lobby area.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the renowned American architectural firm behind the Burj Khalifa and other landmark buildings, designed the station.
SOM’s expertise can be seen in the station’s blend of natural stone, metal, and earthy tones, creating a connection between tradition and modernity. The station will feature Jura limestone and bronze metal panels on the walls, with granite tiles on the floors.

“The station will not just be a transit point; it will be an architectural statement. We wanted to design a structure that would stand as a symbol of Dubai’s future, just as the Burj Khalifa does,” said a spokesperson from SOM.
The Blue Line’s Emaar Properties Station is more than just a transport hub. It will be a mini-community, offering electric vehicle charging points, parking spaces, and drop-off areas. The station is designed to integrate seamlessly with its surroundings, surrounded by lush green spaces for passengers to enjoy.

By 2040, the station is expected to serve 160,000 passengers per day, providing a smooth and efficient travel experience. With its stunning design and forward-thinking features, the station is set to be a landmark in the city’s development, bringing commuters closer to both their destinations and the future.
The Dubai Metro Blue Line, with its innovative designs and features, continues to showcase the city’s commitment to transforming its urban landscape and improving public transportation for residents and visitors alike.
