The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has again asked Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APC.
The group said it is following a directive from the APC national leadership and wants to strengthen the party before the 2027 general elections.
“Our campaign is based on a directive from above. Governor Caleb Mutfwang is a progressive, and we believe he belongs in our great party, the APC,” said Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the Forum, in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.
Zazzaga warned APC leaders in Plateau not to fight the plan. He said such actions would only slow down the party’s progress.
“Those who have constituted themselves as cogs in the wheel of progress must tread with caution. No intimidation or blackmail will stop us from pursuing what is in the best interest of the APC,” he added.

Some party stakeholders had accused the Forum of working against the APC and even called for Zazzaga’s suspension. But the Forum defended its actions, saying they support the party’s future.
“Calling on a sitting governor to join the APC is not anti-party activity. On the contrary, it should be commended by all who want the party to grow,” the Forum said.
The group also said that bringing in leaders like Mutfwang would help the APC grow stronger in the North-Central region.
Zazzaga pointed to the recent defections of governors in Delta and Akwa Ibom to the APC and urged Plateau leaders not to miss the chance.
“We should not allow Plateau to be left behind in the wave of political realignment sweeping the country,” he said.
