Dare Adeleke, a top aide to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of trying to destroy opposition parties in Nigeria. He said Wike wants the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be the only political party in the country.
Adeleke, who serves as the Special Adviser on Federal Constituency Matters, described Wike’s actions as “undemocratic and arrogant.” He said Wike’s behaviour is part of a plan to help President Bola Tinubu get re-elected in 2027.
Adeleke said, “I strongly condemn Governor Nyesom Wike’s undemocratic and arrogant remarks. As former governor of Rivers State and now Minister of the FCT, he appears to have turned governance into a personal enterprise. I believe President Bola Tinubu should call him to order.”

Adeleke added that Wike is trying to blame Governor Makinde for the problems in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said Wike is not being honest and is losing the trust of other PDP leaders.
“How can someone, over personal grievances, seek to destroy political parties? If Wike wanted APC to be the only party in Nigeria, he would have achieved that by now,” Adeleke added.
He also accused Wike of trying to block the PDP’s National Executive Committee meeting by locking up the party’s national secretariat. According to him, this is part of Wike’s plan to weaken the party from within.
“He behaves as if governance in this country revolves solely around him. We thank Governor Seyi Makinde, who has remained resolute and committed to the truth. Wike’s statements are riddled with contradictions,” Adeleke said.
The crisis in the PDP continues to grow as party leaders trade accusations over who is responsible for the internal divisions.
