Three construction workers were rescued on Sunday after a one-storey building collapsed in the Mushin area of Lagos State, while rescue efforts continued to search for others still trapped.
The building, located at 96 Ishaga Road, opposite Idi Araba Central Mosque, came down around 3:30 p.m., according to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The Director of the agency, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident in a statement and said the structure was under construction when it collapsed.
Adeseye said, “Three adult males have been rescued alive with varying degrees of injury. They were given first aid at the scene and later taken to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.”

Emergency teams from several agencies responded to the distress call. These included the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Ambulance Service, and the Nigeria Police.
As of the time of the report, search and rescue operations were still ongoing. Authorities have yet to determine what caused the collapse.
This latest incident adds to growing concerns over building safety in Lagos. In April, another building under construction collapsed on Oremeta Street in Ojodu-Berger, killing some occupants and injuring others.
Residents are calling on the government to strengthen monitoring of construction activities to prevent further tragedies.
