Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer has influence in Akwa Ibom State. He predicted that by the 2027 general elections, the PDP would collapse completely in the state.
Akpabio made the statement during his midterm empowerment event at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Friday. He said that political parties in Akwa Ibom would no longer matter in the next election, as people will vote based on candidates, not party platforms.
Akpabio said, “As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State. For the Senate of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio. For the office of the governor in 2027, all political parties have agreed to vote for Governor Umo Eno.
“The People’s Democratic Party is in shreds and the umbrella can no longer protect.”

Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, praised Governor Umo Eno as a peaceful and godly leader.
“Umo Eno is a man of God. I’m not talking about those who profess God with their lips. I’m talking about those who practise God in their heart. Umo Eno has brought all of us together,” he said.
During the event, Akpabio distributed empowerment items to 1,690 people in his constituency. The items included mini buses, tricycles, cassava processing machines, power generators, cookers, freezers, and bags of rice.
He also announced that 68 new constituency projects would be opened between May 16 and 17.
