Actor and politician Desmond Elliot has revealed that he is currently going through a midlife crisis, and this is part of what inspired his bold fashion choice at the recent Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Elliot caught attention on the red carpet when he showed up in a black shirt and matching skirt decorated with an elephant print. The outfit sparked strong reactions online, with many people praising or criticising his look.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the 50-year-old said his outfit was a way to express himself at this stage in life.

Elliot said, “I am more in politics now, and it means the few times you have the opportunity, just come out differently. Don’t make too much noise, but let people see a lot of noise in what you are doing. Life is about taking chances, and at 50, you have to take bold chances.”
He explained that the elephant print on his clothes holds special meaning. “What gives me confidence now is the fact that I have an elephant imprint which has always been my watchword because of what the elephant stands for – power, strength, loyalty, stability, love.”
When asked how he feels about being in the spotlight, Elliot replied, “I won’t exactly say I love it, but it is okay. Right now, I don’t go too extreme. When you come through what they call ‘midlife crisis’, you just learn to consider how you are feeling at the moment.”
And when asked if he’s currently going through a midlife crisis, Elliot laughed and said, “That is if I am not still in it.”
The actor’s candid comments and unique style have sparked even more conversation online, with many fans praising his openness and boldness.
