Gunmen have kidnapped Nelson Adepoyigi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifon Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident happened on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo Expressway, near the entrance to Adepoyigi’s farm.
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the abduction.
Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman of APC Ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo road.”
According to Ayanlade, the police are working with local hunters, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and Nigerian Army personnel to find the kidnappers.
Ayanlade added, “Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Ifon, in collaboration with hunters, local vigilante groups, and the Army, launched a manhunt for the suspects.”

The police urged members of the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity that could help the rescue operation.
The Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, also confirmed the search. He said the local security outfit had started a tracking operation to locate the kidnappers and rescue Adepoyigi.
“Efforts are in top gear to secure his safe release,” Adeleye assured.
Reacting to the news, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, condemned the act and called for quick action from security agencies.
Adetimehin said, “This is unfortunate, and we want to appeal to our security agencies in the state to ensure the safe release of one of my members. I learned they have commenced work on it, and I want to urge them to ensure he is released unhurt.”
As of Tuesday, the whereabouts of Adepoyigi remain unknown.
