The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has questioned popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, over the spraying of money during her daughter’s recent wedding.
Iyabo, also known as the Queen Mother, shared the news on her Instagram page on Tuesday. She said the EFCC invited her while she was in the United Kingdom and that she honoured the invitation by visiting their office on Monday, May 5, 2025.
She wrote, “I recently had an experience with the EFCC in Nigeria after receiving an invitation letter while I was in the UK. Upon my return, I visited the EFCC on the 5th day of May 2025.”

The actress explained that EFCC officials asked her about her personal details, work history, and companies. They also showed her videos from her daughter’s wedding, where guests sprayed both Naira and foreign currencies.
Iyabo said, “I was asked if I knew this was illegal. I explained that I thought only abuse or mutilation of the Naira was an offense.”
She said she was surprised to learn that spraying foreign currencies like the Dollar is also not allowed. According to her, the EFCC warned that spraying any kind of money—especially on people—is against the law.
“Given this experience, I strongly advise against spraying any currency in Nigeria to avoid issues with the EFCC,” she said.
Iyabo’s daughter, Priscilla Ojo, got married last month to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux in a glamorous ceremony attended by many celebrities.
The EFCC has warned the public in recent times to avoid spraying money at parties, saying it goes against financial regulations in the country.
