Popular Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo, also known as E-Money, has been released after being questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged abuse of the Naira and defacing of foreign currencies.
EFCC operatives arrested E-Money on Monday night at his residence in Omole, Lagos, and took him to their office in Abuja for questioning. A source from the EFCC said he was arrested for allegedly spraying U.S. dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act.
The source said, “On Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed U.S. dollars. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and he will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

On Tuesday evening, E-Money posted a video on Instagram showing himself in a relaxed mood at his home.
In the video, gospel music played in the background as he wrote, “No tension, everywhere good, I see all your love and support. God bless you all.”
Fellow socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, also celebrated the news of his friend’s release on Instagram.
“My brother don fall out, To God be the glory,” he wrote.
E-Money is known for his lavish lifestyle and strong social media presence, often sharing videos of celebrations and giveaways.
