The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspected robbers during a failed robbery operation at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, Abuja.
The suspects, Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa, were arrested in the early hours of March 27, 2025, after they allegedly engaged the police in a gun battle.
In a statement released on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the police from the Mabushi Division responded swiftly to a distress call from the estate around 3:20 a.m.
Adeh said, “Upon arrival at the scene, the police operatives were engaged in a gun duel by the hoodlums. However, the suspects were overpowered by the superior firepower of the police and attempted to flee with gunshot injuries.”
She said police gave them a hot chase and succeeded in arresting the two suspects, who are both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi.

During the arrest, the police recovered several weapons and stolen items from the suspects. The items included two locally made guns and three vehicles suspected to have been stolen. The cars are a black Toyota Matrix with registration number NBS 348 CP, a black Toyota Venza with registration number ABJ 105 AV, and a grey Lexus IS350 with registration number RSH 295 CB.
Also recovered were electronic gadgets such as two MacBook Pro laptops, one Lenovo laptop, one iPad, a PS4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera.
Adeh confirmed that the suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
She also used the opportunity to advise residents to take extra precautions to secure their property. “The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ajao Adewale, urges residents to take proactive security measures, particularly by installing tracking devices in their vehicles. This significantly enhances recovery efforts in the unfortunate event of theft or robbery,” she added.
