Several security operatives, including hunters and community protection guards, lost their lives when armed bandits attacked Keta town in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday.
The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that security forces repelled the attack and killed many bandits, including a notorious leader known as Dan Mudale, who had long terrorized the area.
“At approximately 3:40 p.m., a good Samaritan alerted us that a large number of armed bandits had stormed Keta town with the intention of carrying out violent attacks,” the police spokesperson said.
Security forces, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, local hunters, and Community Protection Guards, quickly mobilized and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle.
“Regrettably, one police mobile force officer, four members of the Community Protection Guard, and two hunters made the ultimate sacrifice during the attack,” the police spokesperson added.
