The family of Nigerian Afrobeats star, Asake, has spoken out about the ongoing controversy surrounding the singer and an elderly man, Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father. The issue gained attention after a viral video showed Odunsi pleading for financial help due to his worsening health condition.
Father Begs for Help Amid Health Struggles
Odunsi, who says he has been battling a stroke since 2022, accused Asake of ignoring his calls for help. In the viral video, he appealed to the public for financial assistance, stating that his health was getting worse.
However, Asake responded with a cryptic message on TikTok, singing in Yoruba:
“You can’t please everyone, you can’t please the world. But anything you are doing, just do it for God. My own father wants to cajole me, and I have sent so much money to him. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life tire me.”
His response suggested that he had already provided financial support but felt pressured by his father’s demands.

Family Accuses Asake of Neglecting Daughter and Father
While addressing Odunsi’s claims, Asake’s family made additional accusations, saying the singer has also failed to acknowledge his 11-year-old daughter, Zeenat. They urged him to take responsibility for both his father’s welfare and his alleged child.
A woman, speaking on behalf of the family in another video, made a direct appeal to Asake:
“I am begging you, Ololade Mr Money, he should come and do the needful.”
She emphasized that even if Nigerians donated ₦10 billion to Odunsi, just ₦1 million from Asake would make him happier.
“Please take care of your father. If you don’t want to support him directly, buy him a house in Isale Eko where he can earn rent to survive,” she suggested.
She also addressed the controversy about Zeenat, stating that her mother was willing to undergo a DNA test to confirm paternity.
Public Reactions and Ongoing Drama
The ongoing controversy has sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some believe Asake should do more to help his father, while others argue that family disputes should remain private.
Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, has not made any further public comments on the matter. However, with his family pushing for a resolution, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold.
