Former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, has been found dead in an Abuja hotel room, hours after checking in with a female visitor. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed his death on Tuesday, clarifying earlier reports that claimed he was kidnapped and murdered.
How Parradang Was Found
According to the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, located at Area 3 Junction, around noon on March 3, 2025. He was driving a black Mercedes Benz and paid ₦22,000 for a one-night stay.
“Shortly after checking in, he directed a hotel room attendant to escort a female guest who had come to visit him to his room. The woman left the premises around 4 p.m.,” Adeh stated.
After the guest left, Parradang was not seen again. Concerned about his well-being, a friend, who is a military officer, traced him to the hotel around 4 a.m. on March 4, 2025. When the officer, accompanied by the hotel receptionist, entered the room, they found Parradang dead, seated in a chair.

Police Investigation Underway
Following the discovery, the hotel management contacted the Durumi Police Station, which dispatched officers to secure the scene.
“Our officers arrived promptly, secured the area, took photographs, and collected all relevant evidence to preserve the integrity of the crime scene,” Adeh said.
Parradang’s body was later taken to the National Hospital for an autopsy, while hotel staff are cooperating with investigators.
No Evidence of Kidnapping
Earlier, reports circulated that Parradang had been kidnapped and murdered. However, the police dismissed these claims, urging the public to avoid spreading false information.
“We urge the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information, including claims of kidnapping, that may incite fear or panic,” Adeh stated.
She assured that a thorough investigation was ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
The Nigerian Immigration Service has yet to issue an official statement, but a source within the agency confirmed his passing. “I don’t know exactly how he died, but we are planning to visit his family to offer our condolences,” the source said.
Parradang, who served in the NIS for over 30 years, held various key positions across the country before becoming Comptroller General. He was also a recipient of the national honor, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), and a distinguished graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
