Nigerian music legend Dapo Oyebanji, popularly known as D’banj, has hinted at a possible reunion with his former collaborator Don Jazzy, exciting fans who have long wished for their comeback.
Speaking in an interview with Punch Newspaper’s Saturday Beats, D’banj acknowledged that fans want to see him and Don Jazzy work together again. He assured them that something big is coming.
D’banj said, “The trailer of my album last year had Don Jazzy in it. We know that the people want that, and we know we are going to give the people that. But it is important to do it at the right time. And there’s no other better time than now. You are going to see a lot, not just from Nigeria but globally. And it’s not just about a Mo’Hits reunion, but celebrating afrobeats as well.”
The Journey of Mo’Hits and the Split
D’banj and Don Jazzy co-founded Mo’Hits Records, a record label that dominated the Nigerian music industry in the 2000s with hit songs like Oliver Twist, Fall in Love, and Why Me. However, in 2012, they parted ways, leading to the end of Mo’Hits.
Following the split, Don Jazzy launched Mavin Records, which has grown into one of the biggest record labels in Africa, home to stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, and Johnny Drille. Meanwhile, D’banj continued as a solo artist, expanding his influence globally.
Despite going their separate ways, the two music giants have remained friends, with occasional public interactions sparking reunion speculations. Now, D’banj’s latest statement suggests that a new collaboration might be closer than ever.

Empowering Young Talents
Beyond his own music, D’banj has been focused on helping young talents through his CREAM platform. Recently, he signed comedian-turned-musician Nasboi and rising artist Berri Tiga as ambassadors of the initiative.
“Nasboi is a typical example of what the platform stands for. He started as a musician in 2008 but didn’t have a chance. So, he evolved into a comedian and skit maker, made a name for himself, and was finally able to return to his dream of music,” D’banj explained.
He also praised Berri Tiga, saying the singer is a success story from the CREAM platform.
“When Berri Tiga uploaded his song on the platform years ago, he was just 17 years old. But look at him today—he is one of our biggest testimonies.”
New Music on the Way
D’banj also shared his plans to release a deluxe version of his last album, which was originally launched in 2024.
“I am so grateful to my fans for wholeheartedly accepting my last album. The plan is to drop a deluxe version of that album. Many people have also requested remixes of my old songs, so I will also pick some of those talents from the CREAM platform,” he revealed.
