Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang

Residents and commuters in Plateau State have expressed relief and excitement as work officially begins on the long-neglected Jos-Miango road. The road, which has been in a terrible state for over 15 years, has caused immense hardship to those who travel between the two major towns.

With the arrival of construction workers and heavy machinery on-site, there is renewed hope that the road will soon be transformed into a smooth and safe passage. Many road users who have endured years of suffering shared their joy over the long-awaited development.

Commuters Express Excitement

Mrs. Sarah Yohanna, a regular commuter on the route, could not hide her happiness. “I am so excited to see that work has finally started on this road. For years, we have been suffering, but now we can see that something is being done to fix it,” she said.

Another commuter, Mr. John Daju, shared similar sentiments. “This road has been a nightmare for us, but with the construction work starting, we are hopeful that it will be completed soon and our suffering will come to an end,” he stated.

Residents Appreciate Government’s Effort

Residents of Miango have also welcomed the project, praising the Plateau State Government for addressing a problem that had been neglected for many years.

Mr. Lawrence Zongo, a resident of Miango, commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for reviving abandoned projects. “Governor Mutfwang has started breathing new life into several projects that were left unfinished by past administrations. Before now, many meaningful projects were either abandoned or ignored,” Zongo remarked.

He further noted that apart from road construction, the governor had promised to restore electricity to Miango District, a community that has been in darkness for over a decade. “The governor’s pledge to restore electricity brings a new sense of hope for the people of Miango,” he added.

Zongo recalled that during a recent retreat at the Missionary Guests House in Miango Rest Home, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the urgent need for progress in the state. “Many residents are now eagerly looking forward to the restoration of electricity, even as they anticipate a brighter future for Miango,” he said.

Government Promises Completion Within Months

The Plateau State Government had earlier announced plans to rehabilitate the Jos-Miango road as part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure in the state. The construction is expected to be completed within a few months, and upon completion, the road will ease the suffering of commuters and boost economic activities in the region.

State Commissioner for Works, Joshua Ubandoma, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the road project and improving other major roads in Plateau State. “Our plan is to open up the state for development. One of our strategies is to decongest the city of Jos and expand the existing road network, making bad roads motorable,” he explained.

Ubandoma assured residents that the administration remains dedicated to serving the people. “We are committed to this initiative because the people deserve nothing but quality service,” he added.
