Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has officially welcomed former Senator Shehu Sani and 49 other prominent politicians who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor assured them that they would enjoy the same rights and privileges as longtime members of the party.
Speaking at a mega rally held at Murtala Square on Saturday, Governor Sani emphasized that APC does not discriminate between old and new members.
“Someone who joined APC today and the one who has been a foundation member ten years ago, they are of the same status. They will enjoy the same rights and privileges,” he stated.
APC Opens Its Doors to More Defectors
Governor Sani encouraged the new members to mobilize their supporters and assure them of the party’s readiness to accept more defectors. He attributed APC’s growing popularity to what he described as just leadership at both the state and federal levels.
“The popularity and acceptability of APC is because of its just leadership. The party has come to stay in Kaduna State, the entire North, and Nigeria as a whole,” the governor said.
He expressed confidence that APC would dominate the 2027 elections.
“In the 2027 election, the electorate will vote for APC in all the elections, from top to bottom. At the top, our leader, President Bola Tinubu, will be elected. At the state level, the party will be voted for at the gubernatorial, National, and State Assemblies elections, by the grace of God,” he declared.

Commitment to Development Beyond Politics
Governor Sani reassured the people that his administration would continue to execute projects across the state without bias towards any political party, ethnicity, or religion.
“Politics is different from governance. We will be fair to all, whether or not they voted for us, because that is the oath of office that we swore to uphold as leaders,” he said.
He also acknowledged that leaders are not infallible and urged APC supporters to provide constructive criticism.
“We are not perfect. Like anyone else, we make mistakes. We ask our people to point out our mistakes so we can correct them,” he stated.
Big Political Names Join APC
Among the notable figures who defected to the APC were:
- Former Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Muktar Ramalan-Yero
- Former Senator Shehu Sani
- Former Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi
- Alhaji Sani Sha’aban, former gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections
- Senator Danjuma Laah, former PDP senator representing Zone Three
