Popular crossdresser Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, has called on Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy to forgive and release fellow entertainer Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, from prison.
In a heartfelt plea posted on his Instagram story on Sunday, Bobrisky expressed concern for Speed Darlington’s wellbeing, arguing that his time in prison has been sufficient punishment.
“Please, Burna Boy, forgive Speed. Prison is not a nice place. I don’t think he has the money for the VIP section because it’s expensive,” Bobrisky wrote. “Forty-five days in prison is enough punishment.”
Bobrisky Criticizes Fans and Reflects on Humanity
Bobrisky also used the opportunity to criticize fans for enabling Speed Darlington’s controversial actions. He urged followers to hold their favorite celebrities accountable instead of encouraging problematic behavior.
“Fans, learn how to tell your favourites the truth when they are crossing the line. You all were applauding Speed when he was saying unpleasant things. Now, none of you is in prison with him,” Bobrisky added.
The crossdresser noted that despite the lack of support he received from fellow celebrities during his own challenging moments, he felt compelled to speak up. “None of these people I’m using my platform to stand for did the same for me when it was my time. But you know what? Our hearts are different. I can’t stand seeing human beings hurt.”

Speed Darlington’s Arrest and Legal Troubles
Speed Darlington was initially arrested in October 2024 over allegations of defamation and cyberstalking Burna Boy. He was first apprehended in Lagos and later transferred to Abuja, where he was detained by the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team in Guzape, Abuja.
After being released from custody, Speed Darlington was re-arrested in November while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, just days after returning to Nigeria. His arrest sparked conversations among fans and celebrities, with many divided over the circumstances surrounding his detention.
Bobrisky’s Appeal to Burna Boy
Bobrisky’s plea to Burna Boy reflects his belief in second chances. “I pray, Burna, please release him. Let’s show love and humanity. Forty-five days is enough punishment for whatever wrong he has done,” he concluded.
As Speed Darlington’s legal woes continue, Bobrisky’s public appeal has reignited debates about celebrity accountability, forgiveness, and the influence of fans in shaping public discourse. For now, the entertainment world awaits Burna Boy’s response to this emotional plea.
