Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest in dirty social media feud

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy and popular socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, have been embroiled in a fiery social media feud, exchanging insults and accusations in a spat that has captured widespread attention.

The altercation began when Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, took to Instagram to mock Chief Priest, referring to him as the “Owerri version of Rick Ross,” a jab at his resemblance to the American rapper. This came shortly after Burna called out pop star Davido for allegedly “living a fake life” and advised him to stop doing so by 2025.

Burna escalated the situation by accusing Chief Priest of being an “azaman,” a slang term for a fraudster, and claiming that his associate, referred to as “Omo Igbo,” had been apprehended in Atlanta. “No forget say you be azaman o,” Burna wrote. “And dem don gbe your plug wey him name na Omo Igbo for ATL, and na you be next #OwerriRickyRozay.”

Chief Priest Fires Back

Refusing to stay silent, Cubana Chief Priest hit back with allegations that Burna Boy had questionable ties to P. Diddy, suggesting that his Grammy Award was earned through intimacy with the American music mogul. “Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD,” Chief Priest posted. “You never see anything, you and your bend-down-collect Grammy.”

He also revealed that in 2018, he paid Burna Boy ₦1 million to perform as a backup artist at his birthday party. Backing his claims, Chief Priest posted videos and pictures from the event, including footage of Burna Boy asking for a slice of birthday cake and referring to him as “egede,” a slang term associated with cult groups.

“2018 na ₦1 million I pay you to perform as backup artist for my birthday,” Chief Priest wrote. “I get pictures and videos where you dey perform for me. I go lie for you?”

Burna Denies Allegations

Responding to Chief Priest’s allegations, Burna Boy denied being a debtor and insisted that he pays for all his properties in full. “Everybody in Lagos knows my style. All my s**t paid for, sometimes cash sef,” Burna wrote. “Go to Coscharis and service any of your stolen cars; abeg, I wan see something.”

Burna also posted a video of a man he claimed was Chief Priest’s brother, who allegedly worked as a phone repairer. In the video, Burna promised to give the man $30,000 if his followers could locate him.

In retaliation, Chief Priest promised millions of naira to a fan who had been allegedly kicked by Burna Boy during a recent performance. He also challenged Burna to display his fleet of cars to prove who was wealthier and more successful.

Public Reaction

The feud has sparked mixed reactions online, with many urging both parties to end their public spat. Critics argue that Burna Boy, a globally recognized music icon, is tarnishing his brand by engaging in such behavior.

“Burna Boy is demystifying himself with this unnecessary fight,” one commenter noted. Another wrote, “Both of you are successful in your fields; why not focus on your achievements instead of dragging each other down?”

Calls for Peace

As the back-and-forth continues, fans and observers are calling for the two celebrities to sheath their swords and settle their differences privately. While some view the feud as entertaining, others see it as a damaging display of egos clashing in the public eye.

Whether this heated exchange will end in reconciliation or further escalation remains to be seen, but the feud has undoubtedly added a dramatic twist to the lives of two of Nigeria’s most prominent public figures.
