The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has dismissed a viral AI-generated image that depicted him as an alhaji. The image, which circulated widely on social media in December 2024, showed Adeboye dressed in Islamic attire, appearing in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during the first Holy Ghost Night of the year on Saturday, January 4, Adeboye humorously addressed the image, saying, “I’m sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.” He appeared unbothered by the AI fabrication, choosing instead to focus on matters of faith and global issues.
The image had caused a stir online, with some users sharing it alongside captions suggesting a religious shift. One user, @Sarkideyforyou, posted the picture on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Pastor Adeboye, may Allah guide you to the right path.” The post garnered significant attention, amassing over 3.8 million views, 1,500 reposts, and 4,000 likes by December 22, 2024.
Warning to Mockers
During the service, Adeboye warned those mocking him and others, predicting that many mockers might not survive the year. However, he emphasized, “God does not desire the death of sinners.”
This statement came as he highlighted the importance of focusing on divine missions rather than distractions, stating, “God’s purpose for humanity on earth remains paramount.”
A Call for Global Peace
Turning his attention to international concerns, Adeboye urged the congregation to pray fervently for peace amid escalating global conflicts. He warned that failure to pray could lead to another world war.
Adeboye also prophesied that 2025 would witness an unprecedented earthquake. “An earthquake of massive proportions is coming,” he said, calling on believers to intensify their prayers to avert greater calamities.
Focus on Nigeria’s Future
On the home front, Adeboye outlined the RCCG’s 100-day fast, dedicating the first 30 days to praying for Nigeria. He vowed to lead the church in what he called “violent prayers” aimed at uprooting obstacles to the nation’s progress.
“There will soon be peace in Nigeria after this 100-day fast,” he assured the congregation, adding that the fast would also bring breakthroughs and blessings.
Adeboye offered guidelines for participants based on their age. He advised individuals over 70 to modify their fasting schedule, suggesting that those aged 70 to 80 should break their fast at 3 p.m., while those over 80 should break theirs at noon. For individuals above 90, he encouraged them to forgo the fast entirely, remarking, “They are already in the departure lounge of life.”
He stressed the importance of prayer during the fast, cautioning that fasting without prayer would amount to nothing more than a “hunger strike.” He also urged participants to avoid frivolous conversations during the fasting period.

Prophecies for 2025
Looking ahead, Adeboye prophesied a “stronger wind” in 2025, which he described as a year of significant breakthroughs, promotions, and long-awaited blessings, including weddings.
“The future is bright despite the challenges,” he assured his followers. His message, titled The Glory Ahead, encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith and to trust God’s plan.
Social Media Reactions
The AI-generated image incident has sparked debates about the use of artificial intelligence in creating misleading content. While some users mocked the image, others came to Adeboye’s defense, highlighting the dangers of spreading misinformation.
Adeboye’s response to the controversy reflects his focus on spiritual matters rather than digital distractions. His call for prayers and prophecies for 2025 have resonated with many followers, offering hope and direction for the new year.
As the RCCG embarks on its 100-day fast, Adeboye’s message continues to inspire millions worldwide, reminding them of the power of faith and prayer in navigating life’s uncertainties.
