Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has intensified efforts to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming January transfer window. The French champions are eager to secure the Napoli loanee, currently excelling at Galatasaray, to bolster their attacking lineup.
Osimhen, 25, has been in exceptional form since joining Turkish league leaders Galatasaray. The Super Eagles star has netted 10 goals and provided five assists in just 14 appearances across all competitions, making him one of the most sought-after players in Europe.
According to RMC Sport, PSG has reopened discussions with Osimhen after a failed attempt to sign him during the summer transfer window. Despite the renewed interest, the negotiations face significant challenges.
One major obstacle is the stance of PSG manager Luis Enrique, who reportedly expressed reservations about signing Osimhen earlier this year. Additionally, the complex nature of the negotiations involving three parties—Napoli, Galatasaray, and the player—adds to the difficulty of securing the deal within the limited January window.
Amid the transfer rumors, Osimhen has reaffirmed his loyalty to Galatasaray. Speaking to the media, the striker said, “I will not leave in January; I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about afterwards, but if they come to me, we will talk. Galatasaray is a nice club that I like very much. I am very happy here.”
Despite his statement, Osimhen’s loan deal reportedly includes a January break clause, which could pave the way for a mid-season move.
PSG is not the only club eyeing the Nigerian forward. Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring Osimhen’s situation closely. Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, has identified Osimhen as a key target to address the team’s scoring issues, while Chelsea is keen to strengthen their attack.
Napoli director Giovanni Manna recently dismissed rumors of a January transfer. Speaking to DAZN, he said, “I already said many times that nobody has talked to us. Victor is owned by Napoli and currently playing for Galatasaray. I think a lot has been said about this; nothing is happening.”

PSG’s pursuit of Osimhen comes as the club considers alternatives to Randal Kolo Muani, who has struggled to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappé’s departure. Reports suggest that PSG is also evaluating Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as a potential signing, which could impact their chase for Osimhen.
Osimhen’s market value has surged following his outstanding performances in Serie A last season, where he scored 26 league goals to help Napoli secure their first Scudetto in 33 years. However, his €75 million release clause could pose a challenge for clubs seeking to sign him.
With PSG, Manchester United, and Chelsea all vying for his signature, the January transfer window could see intense competition for one of Europe’s most prolific strikers. For now, Osimhen remains focused on his current role at Galatasaray, but his future continues to be the subject of speculation.
