The Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, has denied allegations that he was involved in an extramarital affair with a married woman, following his recent arrest by the Kano State Hisbah Board. Sankara strongly refuted the claims, describing them as “false, baseless, and malicious” and accused certain political elements of attempting to damage his reputation.
The controversy erupted on Friday when the Kano State Hisbah Board announced that Sankara had been detained along with a married woman in an uncompleted building. According to Dr. Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Hisbah Board, the arrest followed a complaint from the woman’s brother-in-law, who accused Sankara of inappropriate behavior. Sufi indicated that Sankara would face multiple charges, including allegations of running illicit drug centers disguised as businesses under names like Picklock and 360.
However, Sankara rejected these accusations in a statement released on Friday night, insisting that the reports were entirely fabricated. “My attention has been drawn to a recent media report alleging that I, Auwal D. Sankara, Commissioner for Special Duties in the Jigawa State Government, have been arrested by the Kano Hisbah Command on charges of having an affair with a married woman,” he stated.

He further asserted that the accusations were a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image and called on the public to dismiss the claims. “I wish to categorically state that these allegations are entirely false, baseless, and malicious, aimed at tarnishing my reputation. I urge the general public to disregard this fabricated story, concocted by certain political elements to damage my character and integrity,” Sankara declared.
The commissioner emphasized his respect for the institution of marriage and insisted that he would never engage in any conduct that would violate its sanctity. “As a married man, I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in actions that violate its sanctity. I remain committed to upholding the values and principles that I stand for,” he added.
In response to the allegations, Sankara announced his intention to take legal action against those responsible for spreading the claims. “I am taking this matter seriously and will pursue legal action against those responsible for disseminating this false information and attempting to harm my person,” he said.
