The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) has announced the allocation of 76 power feeders specifically for customers under the Band A scheme in Jos and its surrounding areas. The initiative aims to boost efficiency and ensure a more reliable energy supply for consumers, as stated by JEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Elijah Adakole, in a press release on Thursday.
Adakole explained that the company has formed a seven-member team for each feeder to ensure continuous power supply in line with the Band A electricity schedule. “This is part of our commitment to enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in energy distribution to our customers,” he noted.
With this new system, JEDC expects customers to uphold their part of the arrangement by paying their electricity bills in full and on time. “Customers are, therefore, expected to reciprocate this privilege by ensuring full and prompt payments of the bills for their consumed energy,” Adakole emphasized.
The company also announced that it would launch the long-awaited Feeders Management System and Bilateral Arrangements starting November 1. Under this arrangement, consumers will benefit from a steady and higher-quality power supply, consistent with their designated electricity bands. Adakole highlighted that these changes are part of a broader strategy by JEDC to improve customer satisfaction and service delivery.
“There will be nothing like partial payment for consumed energy going forward; all monthly bills must be settled in full,” Adakole stressed. He added that the feeder management teams have been prepared to ensure that only those customers who meet their payment obligations will continue to receive uninterrupted power supply.
Adakole further urged customers to embrace the new scheme, which aims to provide better service. He emphasized, “Customers are, therefore, advised to embrace the new scheme aimed at serving them better.”
The new initiative reflects JEDC’s efforts to improve the reliability of power supply in Jos and surrounding areas while encouraging consumers to fulfill their responsibilities. As the company gears up for the November 1 launch, many residents are hopeful that the changes will lead to a more consistent and efficient power delivery system.
