The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has suspended two top officials, the State Secretary to the Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and the Commissioner of Transportation, Muhammad Diggol. The party announced this decision late Monday, citing reasons related to disloyalty and abuse of power.
Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, the NNPP State Chairman, confirmed the suspension during an interview. The announcement followed the release of an audio clip in which Dungurawa detailed the decision to suspend the two party chieftains. The clip quickly went viral, drawing attention to the internal struggles within the NNPP.
“We are announcing today that we have suspended the SSG, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and the Commissioner of Transportation, Muhammad Diggol, over abuse of power, office, and disloyalty to the party,” Dungurawa stated. He emphasized that the decision was made after careful consideration by party leadership.

Dungurawa explained that the action was supported by input from local party leaders and members from Bichi North, the area both suspended officials represent. “We are commending the leadership of the party from their wards and the Local Government for bringing the issue to us in writing,” he said. He also noted that the party leadership considered this step necessary pending the outcome of a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The suspension has brought to light ongoing tensions within the NNPP in Kano State, as the party faces challenges in maintaining unity among its ranks. Dungurawa emphasized that the party’s decision aims to uphold its principles and maintain order within its structure.
