The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has suspended its National Vice Chairman for the South East zone, Chief Ali Odefa, over alleged anti-party activities. The suspension was announced on Friday after a meeting of the Ward Executive Committee and is effective immediately.
Herbert Onyedikachi, the acting Chairman of the PDP Oguduokwor Ward, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja. He explained that the decision to suspend Odefa was based on his involvement in activities deemed harmful to the party’s image and interests.
“Chief Ali Odefa has been suspended for engaging in anti-party activities and other actions that are not in line with the values and objectives of the Peoples Democratic Party,” Onyedikachi stated. “The decision was made in accordance with Section 57(3) of the PDP Constitution, which gives the Ward Executive Committee the authority to take such actions when necessary.”

Onyedikachi further explained that the committee has referred Odefa to the Ward Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and possible additional actions. He emphasized that the suspension was a step toward maintaining discipline within the party.
“This suspension and the referral to the disciplinary committee are necessary to ensure that the principles and values of the PDP are upheld. We urge all party members to remain committed to the objectives of the party and to continue working towards our shared goals,” Onyedikachi added.
The suspension of Odefa, a key figure in the party’s leadership in the South East, comes amid growing concerns about internal conflicts and divisions within the PDP. The party’s leadership has not yet commented on the suspension, but it is expected to address the matter in the coming days.
The move highlights the party’s ongoing efforts to address internal issues and maintain unity ahead of future political contests.
