Lagos has earned the impressive title of the sixth-best city globally for nightlife in 2024, according to Time Out Magazine. This ranking places Lagos ahead of notable cities such as Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Time Out Magazine, a global publication known for its city-based lifestyle reviews, has listed only five cities ahead of Lagos in its nightlife ranking: Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Manila in the Philippines, Berlin in Germany, Guadalajara in Mexico, and Austin, Texas in the United States.
The ranking highlights Lagos as a vibrant hub for entertainment and nightlife, reflecting the city’s dynamic and energetic atmosphere. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, expressed that the ranking is a testament to Lagos’s growing reputation as a global entertainment hotspot.
He attributed the city’s success to the efforts of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has implemented numerous initiatives to enhance the city’s tourism and entertainment sectors.
Omotoso stated, “Nightlife is alive and thriving in Lagos, thanks to the creation of an enabling environment for tourism and entertainment. Principal among these efforts is the focus on the security of lives and property.”
He added in a social media post, “Lagos is the 6th best city globally in terms of quality nightlife, according to Time Out Magazine’s 2024 Outlook. Surprised? Not at all. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s initiatives in technology, transportation, tourism, and security are paving the way for Lagos to stand out among the world’s leading megacities. Indeed, a Greater Lagos is Rising.”
