US rapper Travis Scott, known for his chart-topping hits and energetic performances, has been released by French police after being detained for 36 hours in Paris. The 33-year-old artist, who has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, was taken into custody following an alleged altercation with a security guard at a luxurious Paris hotel.
The incident occurred at the Georges V hotel, where police were called early on Friday morning. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, Scott was arrested for “violence against a security agent.” The security guard had reportedly intervened to break up a confrontation between Scott and his bodyguard, which led to the rapper’s detention.
However, after 36 hours in custody, Travis Scott was released without any charges. A representative for the rapper confirmed, “Travis Scott has been released without charges.” The Paris prosecutor’s office also stated that the case was dismissed due to “insufficient evidence.”
Scott’s management team quickly responded to the situation, with a US representative stating that they were in “direct communication with Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve” the issue.
The rapper, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was seen earlier attending the Olympics men’s basketball semi-finals on Thursday evening before the incident occurred. Despite this recent brush with the law, Scott remains a prominent figure in the music industry, known for his influence on modern hip-hop and his successful collaborations.
Travis Scott is no stranger to legal troubles. In June, he was arrested in Miami Beach on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication after being involved in a fight on a yacht. Additionally, in November 2021, his concert in Houston, Texas, tragically ended in the deaths of ten people due to a crowd crush at a music festival.
Despite these controversies, Scott continues to be a prolific artist and producer. His latest album, “Utopia,” was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards, showcasing his continued relevance in the music industry. Beyond music, Scott has also secured lucrative merchandising deals with major brands like Nike, Epic Games, and McDonald’s.
Scott, who shares two children with social media influencer and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner, has maintained his popularity despite the legal issues and continues to have a significant impact on both music and popular culture.
