Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced late Friday that he has agreed with Fox News to debate Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4.
Trump shared this news on his Truth Social platform, saying, “I have agreed with FoxNews to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th.” However, it is not yet clear if Harris has agreed to the debate.
This announcement came shortly after Harris secured the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination for the upcoming November election.
Trump’s campaign took a significant turn on July 21 when President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew his candidacy due to concerns about his age and declining polling numbers, and endorsed Harris instead. Biden decided to step down after a poor performance in a debate against Trump on CNN in June.

A second televised debate between Trump and Biden was originally scheduled for September 10 on ABC television. It is expected to proceed with Harris replacing Biden.
However, Trump’s spokesman, Steven Cheung, indicated last week that it would be “inappropriate” to schedule the debate before Harris was officially the Democratic nominee.
In his post, Trump provided details about the debate venue and moderators, indicating that it will be held before a full audience. This upcoming debate marks a significant moment in the presidential race, setting the stage for a direct confrontation between the two leading candidates.
