Lagos State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Sherrif Mustapha, 42, and Suturat Lateef, 28, for allegedly possessing a large cache of weapons in the Mushin area. The arrests occurred early Thursday morning following a tip-off from the public.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin revealed that the arrests were made possible by information from concerned citizens.
“Thank you, Lagosians, for the timely information. Together, we can overcome insecurity,” Hundeyin said.
Around 1 a.m., the police received a distress call about armed men on Agoro Street, Mushin. The tactical team from Surulere responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of Mustapha and Lateef, although one suspect managed to escape.

The suspects directed the police to Number 1, Moshalashi Street, Mushin, where the authorities recovered a significant cache of weapons. The haul included two AK-47 rifles, one K2 Assault rifle, one Red Rufer rifle, three pump-action rifles, two locally made single-barrel pistols, five magazines, and 57 live cartridges.
Additionally, the police seized 70 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition, 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one expended 5.56mm ammunition, a dagger, three walkie-talkies, and nine international passports.
Hundeyin emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and called for continued public support.
“If you see something, say something. Security is everyone’s business,” he urged.
