A 300-level Computer Science student of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Naja’atu Salisu, passed away on Friday after being found unconscious in the bathroom of her hostel.
Naja’atu entered the bathroom in the female hostel at the Gubi campus for a morning shower to prepare for her lectures. However, she was later discovered lying unconscious on the bathroom floor.
One of her roommates, who wished to remain anonymous, shared, “She had done every routine in preparation for the morning class before going into the bathroom. She brought the clothes she planned to wear to the class and kept them on the side of her bed.”
Upon finding her unconscious, her fellow students immediately sought help. ATBU Spokesperson Zailani Bappa confirmed that Naja’atu was rushed to the university’s clinic.
“Medical personnel at the clinic could not find a vein on her body,” Bappa said.
Realizing the severity of the situation, she was then taken to the Trauma Centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Naja’atu was buried according to Islamic rites, with prayers offered for the repose of her soul.
Bappa expressed the university’s condolences and said, “We pray for her family and friends during this difficult time.”
