On Wednesday night, gunmen attacked a 50-year-old Okada rider named Sikiru Muritala in Ibadan, Oyo State. The attackers attempted to steal his motorcycle and chopped off his hand during the assault.
The incident occurred around 9 pm at Saribi in the Akinyele Local Government Area. Despite the violent attack, the assailants were unable to steal the motorcycle.
Muritala, speaking from his hospital bed at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, recounted the harrowing experience.
He explained, “I am a trailer mechanic, but when things turned upside down, I decided to go for Okada business. On that day, I normally picked passengers to that area. I went to drop a passenger, and as I was coming back, they attacked me with the intention of snatching the bike. They spoke a language I didn’t understand. Unfortunately, they were unable to go with the bike. But they chopped off my hand.”
