Nigerians have generously donated over N4.2 million to support the family of Sodiq Olayode after his wife, Abiodun, gave birth to quadruplets.
A colleague of Sodiq, known as James and tweeting as #jamysax on X.com, shared the heartwarming news on Wednesday.
James initially shared the story on Tuesday, writing, “A colleague of mine who had two kids already said he should do it and add one more. Guess how many his wife gave birth to? Four at once (quadruplets). The man wan craze. Na so so lament for status every day.”
James also posted a screenshot of Sodiq’s WhatsApp status, which read, “105 pieces of diapers in 6 days. Haaa, mo gbe mo daran. E shanu mi eyin quadruplet yi.”
This message highlighted the challenges the family faced with the sudden increase in their household.
James’ posts quickly gained attention online, with many people expressing their willingness to help. By Wednesday, James announced that he had received permission from the couple to share their pictures and Sodiq’s bank account details for those wishing to donate.
“I reached out to them yesterday for their permission to post their picture and that of the children, as well as his account details. Also, if you would love to send them diapers or anything else, kindly reach out to me. I will find a way to get it to them. Proper accountability would be done,” James wrote.

James provided hourly updates on the donations. By 9:42 a.m., the family had received N1,598,750. By 10:03 a.m., the amount had increased to N2,811,277. By 11:03 a.m., donations had reached N4,226,769.
James noted, “Husband and wife are both in awe. They are speechless. God is kind.”
The Lagos State Government also highlighted the birth of the quadruplets, which occurred at Gbagada General Hospital under the State Social Health Insurance Plan, known as “Ilera Eko.”
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, assured that “the babies would be enrolled in the scheme to receive continuous medical care.”
In an interview with Feelrightnewstv on Facebook, Sodiq mentioned that they already had a daughter before the quadruplets (two boys and two girls) were born at eight months due to the pregnancy becoming life-threatening. The couple has sought government assistance to help raise their children.
