The Federal Government has promised to support the victims, their families, and the community affected by the school building collapse in Jos, Plateau State. The tragic incident occurred on Friday at Saint Academy in Busa Buji, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.
Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, expressed deep sympathy in a statement released by Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry.
“It is with deep sorrow that we receive the devastating news of the collapse building in Saints Academy. Our heartfelt condolences go to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, the bereaved families, and the entire people of Plateau State,” Mamman said.
The minister emphasized the importance of immediate support from relevant agencies.
“We urge the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Plateau State Emergency Management Agency to provide necessary support to the survivors. Their collaboration is crucial in ensuring that survivors receive the necessary care and assistance during this challenging period,” he stated.

Mamman highlighted the need for contractors and building agencies to ensure the construction of safe structures to prevent future tragedies.
“Ensuring structural integrity is paramount to preventing such tragic incidents in the future,” he stressed.
He also praised the timely intervention of the search and rescue team and the public who helped evacuate surviving students and staff.
“Their prompt action undoubtedly saved lives and brought immediate relief to those trapped in the rubble,” Mamman said.
The Federal Ministry of Education stands in solidarity with the affected community and hopes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may the injured ones recover speedily,” the minister added.
