The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, Prof. Armaya’u Bichi, has alleged that some university staff are acting as informants for bandits. This accusation comes amid a series of attacks in the area, where bandits have kidnapped students, staff, and their family members.
Just a week ago, bandits attacked the home of Dr. Tiri Gyan David, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at FUDMA. They killed him and abducted his children.

In a briefing on Tuesday, Prof. Bichi said, “This issue of informants is worrisome. We investigated those we suspect of giving out their colleagues and students’ information. We have found them and handed over their contacts to a security agency for further investigation.”
Despite these efforts, Bichi noted that the situation is worsening. “We have strong reasons for accusing them of being informants to bandits,” he added.
The Police, when contacted, said they were unaware of such accusations but promised to investigate further. ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the police spokesman, urged the public to provide information that could help end these security challenges.
