Rivers State is facing serious political tensions as two factions of the State House of Assembly hold separate sessions on Monday.
This conflict has deepened the divide between supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and those loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
On Sunday night, the faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, who supports Governor Fubara, invited Emmanuel Frank-Fubara, a new commissioner-nominee, for screening and confirmation. This invitation was made through a letter from the Clerk, Dr. G. M Gillis-West.

Meanwhile, the faction led by Martin Amaewhule, which supports Nyesom Wike, will also meet today. According to Punch Newspaper, the pro-Fubara faction will gather in a makeshift chamber at the Government House in Port Harcourt, while the pro-Wike faction will meet at the official State Assembly quarters on Aba Road, also in Port Harcourt.
This marks the first meeting of the pro-Wike group since the Court of Appeal ruled them as legitimate members of the House. Last week, the Court of Appeal upheld the status of lawmakers loyal to Wike, intensifying the ongoing political battle.
The conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, has not subsided, leading to escalating political tensions in the state.
